Tryon, NC - John Russell Constance died on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1997 at his residence. Native of Polk County, NC and son of the late Clayton W.and Katherine Walker Constance. Chairman of the Tryon, NC City Board of Education from 1965 to 1974. Past president of Tryon Federal Savings and Loan, where he was a member of the board of directors. Member of Tryon, NC First Baptist Church and Jeff L Nelson Masonic Lodge No. 605 and supported the Tryon Youth Center. Survivors included: his wife Rachael Betty Newman Constance; one daughter; two sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren.
