Betty Hackney Brothers, age 81, of Greenbrier, TN passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014 at St. Thomas Medical Center.

She was born in Greenbrier, TN on July 2, 1931 to William Cecil Hackney and Goldie Jewel Bedwell.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Hilliard & Phillip Hackney; sister, Evelyn Gower.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, 10:00am at Austin & Bell Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel with Bro. Nathan Washburn and Bro. Fred Baldwin officiating.

She was a teacher in Robertson County Schools for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of Greenbrier First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was active in her Sunday School Class. She was a member of the 49er's. She enjoyed reading, working game puzzles & Sudoku puzzles, playing Bingo and going camping. She was totally devoted to her family and lived out a strong faith in the Lord.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob Brothers, Greenbrier, TN; her daughter & son-in-law, Missy & Ernie Fultz, Goodlettsville, TN; brother, Larry Hackney, Greenbrier, TN; sister, Barbara Apple, Ashland City, TN; 5 grandchildren, Bobby (Tanya) Pulley, Mikey (Ashlea) Pulley, Tammy Fultz, Jamie Fultz Hall (Alex), James (Renee) Fultz; 6 great grandchildren with 1 more on the way, Lila Pulley, Evie Pulley, Cora Pulley, Theron Hall, Lorelei Hall, Jack Fultz.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at the funeral home from 2-8pm and on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 9-10am the hour of the service.

Final resting place will be at Mayes Cemetery with friends serving as pallbearers.
