James was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School in Indianapolis and a graduate of Indiana Barber College. He was employed by Chrysler for 35 years and retired in 2001. James loved to bowl in the summer mixed league at Don Lowry Lanes. He also like to watch western movies and T.V. shows.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Adair, Kokomo; daughter, Jean Dewitt, Kokomo; sister, Suan Gatton, Indianapolis; brother, Chris (Jan) Adair, Indianapolis; mother, Louise Adair, Indianapolis.
He was preceded in death by his dad and son, Jake Adair.
