Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Johnson, Pastor. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to the services at the church. Arrangements are through Mueller Funeral Home.
Curtis was born on April 2, 1926, in Loachapoka, Ala., to Bill and Nettie (Aldrich) Sanders. He married Barbara John on July 31, 1982, in Ottawa.
Curtis was employed at Crouse Hinds for 30 years and also worked 10 years at the Syracuse Foundry. Curtis was a hard worker, enjoyed hunting and was a deacon in the Baptist church.
He was a member of the Freemasons and was a kind person, willing to help anyone in their time of need. Curtis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; six daughters, Barbara Boatrigh, Jeannette Sanders, Priscilla Sanders, Sandra (Randy) Hudson, Abigail (Dwayne) Boyd and Desiree Sanders; stepdaughters, Deborah Jones, Rhonda Warner, Adrena Phillips, Kim Johnson and Lashawn (Elliot) Hill; a stepson, Ralph (Barbara) Johnson; brother, Howard (Fannie) Sanders; six sisters, Bernice (Ernest) Wynn, Rebennie (Major) Wilson, Johnie Mae (Jenkins) Yancy, Emma Crowder, Leona (Henry) Collins and Doris Wagner; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher Sanders; a daughter, Brendalon Day; two brothers, Cleveland and Sylvester Sanders; three sisters, Rose Dowdell, Mastella McCurty and Annie Ruth Bradford; and the mother of his children, Elease Sanders.
