Henry W. Shelton, 77, of Calhoun, died Wednesday evening, April 10, 2013, at the family residence.

A son of the late Lula Angeline Bacon Shelton and Walter W. Shelton, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Clark; and one brother, Gene Sharp.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force with more than 20 years of service. He worked in Civil Service on an Air Force base in California as an airplane mechanic with more than 22 years of service before his retirement. He enjoyed collecting eagles - pictures or ceramic - and was a huge sports memorabilia collector. He enjoyed reading and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include one son, William T. Shelton of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Hybarger and her husband, C.L., of Cleveland, Dorothy Eaves of Florence, Ala., and Grace Thompson of Yellow Springs, Ohio; his nieces and caregivers, Janice Clark of Calhoun, and Ann Leamon and her husband, Rick, of Riceville; his other special caregiver, Claudia Anderson of Charleston; and several other nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga for their care of Mr. Shelton.

The Remembrance of Life Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Calhoun Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Cheatham officiating. Full military honors will be given.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Calhoun Cemetery Association, C/O Joe Bryan, P.O. Box 182, Calhoun, TN 37309.

Jim Rush Funeral Home, North Ocoee Chapel, of Cleveland is in charge of arrangements.
