Mrs. Glenda Scott Howard, age 72, formerly of Carrollton died peacefully at home following an extended illness Thursday, November 17, 2011.

Mrs. Howard was born in Carroll County, Georgia on February 22, 1939, the daughter of the late James Andrew Scott, Sr. and Parrie Yates Scott.

At an early age Glenda joined Salem Baptist Church and later became a faithful and long term member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. The last few years she attended Dallas First Baptist Church. She retired from the State of Georgia's Insurance Commissioner's office where she worked as an administrative assistant.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scott Bailey of Rockmart; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Dottie Howard of Bowdon; grandchildren, Andrew Bailey of Rockmart, Kaitlyn Bailey of Rockmart, Noah Howard of Bowdon, Elijah Steed of Bowdon; sister, Betty Mapp of Carrollton; brother, James Scott of Dallas and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Hilda Scott Johnson, Dewey Scott, Avis Scott Ivey and Dorothy Scott Yates.

The family will receive friends at Almon Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Funeral service will be Sunday, November 20 at 3 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Mr. Scott Bailey and Mr. Scott Eason officiating. Eulogies will be by Maria Mote and Mark Witham. Music will be by Mark Witham and Carol Windom.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Bailey, Noah Howard, Elijah Steed, Kenny Wiggins, T. J. Treadwell and Clay Bell.

Interment will be in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.
