Aaron David Black, 33, Salem, Va., formerly of Peru, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2005 at his residence.

He was born May 2, 1971 in Peru to Wayne A. and Linda Washburn Black.

Black was valedictorian of Peru High School in 1989, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Purdue University in 1995 with a degree in health promotion and athletic training. He was employed as an athletic trainer at the Roanoke Athletic Club and Franklin County, Va. high school.

He also enjoyed mountain bike riding, horseback riding and living in the mountains of Virginia.

Survivors include his parents, Fred and Linda Whicker, Tipton, Wayne and Berta Black, and George Beresh, all of Peru; a daughter, Ashley Kayanne Black, Peru; a brother, Adam Black and wife Cindy, Longview, Texas; a niece, Alexandra Black; a nephew, Kyle Black; maternal grandparents, Jack and Eileen Washburn, Rochester; and paternal grandparents, Carl Black, Kokomo, Lucille Huddleston and Gertrud Thurston, both of Peru.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, Peru, with Chaplain Steve Fleck officiating. Burial will be in Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
