Lavonne Power Boyer, 100
RUSHVILLE — Lavonne Power Boyer, 100, of Franklin, died April 13, 2013.
She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Milroy. She was born March 6, 1913, near Milroy. Her parents were Emory J. and Ella Spurgeon Power. She married Stanley D. Boyer Nov. 29, 1934; he preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1980.
Survivors include daughters, Joella Patterson of Franklin, Louise Beaman of Franklin, Ruth Spanks [Sparks] of Greenfield; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by half brother, Albert Power, and half sister, Lucy Harrison.
She had been president of Layton Acres and office manager of Boyer Realty in Milroy. She ran the hotel beauty shop in Hanover and worked at Lola Mae's Beauty Salon in Rushville in the 1930s. She was a graduate of Milroy High School and Marguerite's School of Beauty. Lavonne had served as secretary of Layton Cemetery Association since 1935. She was a past Matron of Milroy OES, past district deputy and past grand representative. She was a member of Milroy United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women and choir. She was a member of Culture Club, Research C1ub, Church Women United, Homemakers Club and Homemakers Chorus.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18,2013, at Milroy United Methodist Church with Rev. Valorie Wilson and Rev. Phillip Mitchell officiating. Friends may call two hours before service. Burial will be in Layton Cemetery near Milroy.
