Katie Jo Ann Posey Staggs, resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, at her residence, at the age of 78 years, 4 months, 13 days.
Jo Ann was born December 1, 1934 in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Joe Bailey Posey and Katie Edney Brown Posey. After graduation from high school and Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas, Jo Ann was a homemaker. Jo Ann married Frederick Mason Staggs Sr., on May 31, 1953, in McAllen, Texas. Jo Ann has resided in Floresville since 1984, and was a member of Floresville United Methodist Church.
Jo Ann is survived by her beloved husband of over 59 years, Frederick Mason Staggs Sr., of Floresville; sons, Fred Staggs Jr. of Corpus Christi, and Terry P. Staggs of Kerrville; granddaughter, Rebecca Rene Valderama and husband Jeremy of Victoria; and brother, John Brown Posey and wife Charlotte of Florida. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Katie Posey; and her brother, Camerlin Posey.
Visitation began at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, Texas. Funeral services were held at 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, officiated by Reverend James Crews, Floresville United Methodist Church in Floresville, Texas. Interment followed at Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Clarn Posey, Daniel Hargrove, Rodney Wigley, Ryan Wigley, and Sean Damiana.
