Victor Renz died Wednesday, February 11, 2004. He was born in Veradale. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1938.

Mr. Renz was a first lieutenant with the Army Infantry during World War II and was honored as a prisoner of war for his confinement in Oflag 64. He was confined along with 1500 U.S. military soldiers and was later liberated by Gen. George Patton.

He had been an entrepreneur in the Spokane Valley since 1949.

Mr. Renz was past president of the Spokane Valley Lions Club and the Washington State Arabian Horse Association and was involved with the Elks Lodge.

He was a founding member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed antique cars, bowling and golfing with Liberty Lake's Over the Hill Gang.

He and his wife of 55 years, Helen, wintered in Green Valley, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vicki Hoskins; two sons, Phillip Renz and William Renz, a sister, Mary Morris; a brother, Al Renz; and eight grandchildren.
