Skibsted was born November 27,
1924 to Martin and Lona Skibsted in
Newell. He attended schools at
Newell and Sulphur Springs,
graduating from Sulphur Springs in
1942. He also attended Buena Vista
College, Storm Lake, and State College,
Pasedena, Calif. He served in
the Army during World War II in
New Guinea and the Phillipines
from 1943-1946.

He married Orlean
Bruns, in Newell, on February 2,
1946. He was a farmer all his life and
also worked for 22 years with the
Postal Service before retiring on
December 31, 1984. He was a
member of the Newell American
Legion Post 193 and the Danish
Brotherhood in America.
Preceding him in death were his
parents.

He is survived by his wife; three
sons — Larry of Galva, John of Ada;
and David of Storm Lake; one
daughter — Jacqueline (Mrs.
Ronald) Groth, DeWitt; six grandchildren;
and one sister — Vivian of
Newel.
