1925 Scopes Trial Instigator--George W. Rappleyea was the man who saw the ad in the Chattanooga Times from the ACLU looking for a school teacher from Tennessee to test the newly passed law on evolution. Rappleyea convinced Scopes and other Dayton leaders this would be a good way to get their town on the map.
