Nicholas C. Wasicsko: Former Yonkers Mayor

Mr. Wasicsko was a former Westchester County police officer. He served as 7th Ward councilman in 1986 and 1987, and he was mayor in 1988 and 1989. He lost a bid for re-election as mayor in 1989, but he returned to office in 1991 as 2nd District councilman. He was named Democratic minority leader.
Mr. Wasicsko most recently served on the board of the Yonkers Industrial Development Agency. He was a member of the 7th Ward Democratic Club and a former commissioner of the Yonkers Human Rights Commission. He relinquished that post after his first election to the council.
Mr. Wasicsko was born May 13, 1959, in Yonkers to Nicholas and Anne Slota Wasicsko. He was a lifelong city resident.
Cause of death: Suicide by gun shot.
