BLUEFIELD, Va. — Anita Gail Richardson, 55, of 104 Vista St., Bluefield, Va., died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Bluefield, W.Va. and is the daughter of Betty Marshall Coon of Bluefield, Va. and the late Bill Richardson. She is a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Va., where she had been a member of the choir for many years. She had recently retired on November 30, 2010 from the Pemco Corp. in Bluefield, Va. after 37 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Bluefield, Va. Rescue Squad and was a 1973 graduate of Graham High School. She had a great love for animals, taking in any stray animal.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a stepbrother, David Coon; and a niece, Cynthia Lynn Richardson.
Survivors, including her mother, Betty Marshall Coon and her stepfather, Billy J. Coon, include her brother, Larry Richardson and wife Theresa, Bluefield, Va.; sister, Beth Roberts, Bluefield, Va.; stepsister, Sherri Cooper, Alabama; ten nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dudley Memorial Chapel in Bluefield, Va. with the Reverend Terry Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Tazewell Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 395, Tazewell, VA 24651.
