Michael was the son of Janice M. Church and Richard V. Mecham.
Michael is buried next to his sister Lisa, who died 3 days after Michael, from injuries received in the same auto accident.

2 DIE, 4 TEENS INJURED IN CANYON ACCIDENT
A Pleasant Grove man and a Spanish Fork teenager were killed and four other teens were severely injured early Saturday in a one-vehicle accident in American Fork Canyon.
Mike Mecham, 20, was driving the vehicle loaded with teens in the canyon about 12:30 a.m. when he apparently lost control on a curve and locked his brakes. He was killed when his car left the road, said UHP Trooper Ken Collyar. Pepper Hayne, 14, Spanish Fork, died later Saturday after she was flown to LDS Hospital.
"The vehicle went airborne and into the river, about five or six feet into the water," said a UHP spokeswoman. One of the victims was ejected, while the others remained in the vehicle.
The four injured passengers and their conditions on Saturday: Josh Mitchell, 15, Pleasant Grove, critical condition at University Hospital (*later died of his injuries*); J. P., 14, Lindon, critical condition at American Fork Hospital; B. B., 13, Pleasant Grove, critical condition at American Fork Hospital; and Lisa Mecham, 14, Pleasant Grove, stable condition, at American Fork Hospital.
