LAYTON - Mark Steven Staley, 27, passed away Friday, February 27, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada from complications following surgery. He was born March 13, 1976 in Richfield, Utah the son of Larry Allan Staley Sr. and Marilyn Pauline Schnell Staley. Mark was a medical assistant and worked in many area hospitals and healthcare facilities. He had a "green thumb," loved planting flowers and trees, attending music concerts and had a talent for home decorating. Surviving are his parents, grandmother, Katherine Staley, Pomona, California; six brothers, Larry (JoNell), Tucson, Arizona; Matthew (Carol), Columbia, Missouri; Brad (Jennifer), Washington Terrace; Daniel, Salt Lake City; Luke, serving in Peace Corps in Leon, Nicaragua; Zachary, Salt Lake City; one sister, Roxanne (Deris) Wilson, West Haven; eight nieces, five nephews, his roommate, Jennifer Thorp, special Aunt and Uncle, Shirley and Wes Coffee, Tremonton; and his Schnauzer, "Noah." Preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Sophie Schnell and Fred Staley. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 5, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. A special thank you to John Gorton of Racine, WI; and his sister, Patty Gorton of Las Vegas, NV; for their love and care.
