Samuel "Sam" C. Armstrong , 91, of 155 19th St., Marion, died Wednesday in Heritage Acres Care Center, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. Graveside services: 9 a.m. Monday, Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; a daughter, Theo Mallard of Angwin, Calif.; two sons, Richard of Glendale, Calif., and Ralph of Cedar Rapids; and three stepdaughters, Deloris Halstead of Springville, and Zella Rogerson and Barbara Harford, both of Marion.

Also surviving are six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 12 great- great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Sam was born Dec. 28, 1901, in Benton County and married Ruth L. Holubar on Oct. 11, 1947, in Sedro Woolley, Wash. He was a stationary engineer at Allis-Chalmers for 19 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of UAW Local 1316.
