H. Ruchhoeft, Co. Pioneer, Dies aged 68
Herman Ruchhoeft, aged 68 and a life long resident of this county, passed away
at the family homestead at Silver Lake yesterday afternoon. Death came as a
result of a stroke of paralysis. The deceased was born on August 21, 1857 in
the town of Newton and has made his home in Manitowoc county ever since birth.
Late in the year of 1890 he was married to Miss Mary Trost and besides his widow
he is survived by nine children, four sons, Herbert, Alfred, Ervin and Herman Jr.,
all at home, five daughters, Erna, Eleanor, Marie, Viola and Mrs. Earl Cain of
this city. He is also survived by a brother Henry, who makes his home at the
homestead, and two sisters, Mary, who also is at the family home and Mrs. Joseph
Degenhardt of Waukesha.
Funeral services will be held from the home at Silver Lake Thursday at 9 o’clock
and at St. Joseph’s church at Silver Lake at 10. Burial will take place at the
cemetery there, the Rev. Father Herman Rogers officiating.

Herman Ruchhoeft, aged 68 and a life long resident of this county, passed away
