Raleigh - Marion Marrit Hicks, 84, ended his earthly journey at his home in Raleigh, NC, and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday. Born in Marion, NC, he was the son of the late William Ransom Hicks and Harriet Reese Hicks. Prior to his retirement, he was an employee of Minneapolis Honeywell. He lived and died at peace with God, himself, and others.

A celebration of his life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday at Fellowship Baptist Church, Old Stage Road, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.

Mr. Hicks is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mildred Holland Hicks; daughter, Glenda Chandler and husband, Rev. Wayne Chandler; sons, Jerry Hicks and wife, Cathy; Rev. Alan Hicks, and wife, Valerie; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and a host of extended family, friends, and church family from Fellowship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Edward and Larry Hicks; sisters, Louetta Holland and Becky Hicks; brothers, Bailey, Roscoe, Etis, Arvin, Hawley, Nathan and Roy Hicks.
