Funeral services for J. B. Montgomery, 73, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Rayville First Baptist Church, Rayville with Rev. Eddie Wren and Johnny Hoychick officiating.
Burial will follow in Start Cemetery, Start under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville.
J. B. Montgomery was born August 26, 1939, in Canton, TX and passed away unexpectedly on April 13, 2013.
Mr. Montgomery completed high school in Start in 1957 and still holds the State High School Class C track record in 3 events. His life revolved around his faith, family and agriculture. He was a member of the Rayville First Baptist Church in Rayville former President of Farm Bureau, an avid outdoor sportsman, and lifetime farmer. He especially loved watching his granddaughters play softball and fishing and bird hunting with his grandson and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lorine and Roy Montgomery.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Ruby Ann Montgomery; daughters, Karen Hollis and husband, Melvin of Rayville; Tammy Anderson and husband, Brad of Rayville; Mandy Smart and husband, Glenn of Start; grandchildren, Brandon Hollis, Ashley Hollis, Morgan Anderson, Becca Anderson; sisters, Nell Johnson and husband James; Nett Moore and husband, Walter; Wanda Taylor all of Start; brother, Roy "Morris" Montgomery and wife, Betty of Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Hollis, Jordan Morris, Logan Morris, Todd Morris, Justin Mulhern, and Alan Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ronald Hubbard, Orie Gene Morris, Pete Mulhern, and David Rawls.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at Rayville First Baptist Church. Rayville
