Charles Fox Minton was the son of Daniel Minton and Abigail Baker Minton. Daniel Minton was an employee of the Customs House. Charles was married to Sophia C. Meyer, daughter of John Meyer who was a descendant of David Grim. Charles is buried in the Grim family vault.

Charles Fox Minton lived for at least a few years in Savannah, Georgia where he was in a business partnership with his uncle Calvin Baker Sr. They operated an auction house under the name "Baker and Minton". The partnership dissolved in 1823. Charles Fox Minton left the business. Calvin Baker Sr. continued to operate the auction house under his own name for several years before his death in Savannah in 1834.
