Donald was a veteran of World War II, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. In 1946, Donald married to Edith Scott (1927-). In July 1969, Donald and Edith were divorced. Donald died March 10, 1982 (aged 61) and is buried at Monahans Memorial Cemetery, Section 13A, Row 3. Lot 21-N in Monahans, Ward County, Texas. Donald's known children include: Robin Luethy, Ralph Luethy, Richard S. Luethy and Donnie James Luethy.
