Born on Dec. 27, 1923 to Leo and Mary Prine of Sanco, Texas, she was 89 years of age. She has lived the past 50 years here in Fontana. She had a home on Beech Street and then the last year and a half lived at Laurel Convalescent Care. She dearly loved gardening in her yard and was very fond of the hummingbirds.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Salgado, who passed away in November 2001. Rena leaves behind her daughter, Sue Martinez of Fontana, as well as her son, Calvin Bell, of Texas. Missing their grandmother are Leslie Bell and Trevor Staten, as well as great-grandchildren Kevin Bell, Christopher Hernandez, and Ali and Lilly Staten.
In addition to loving her garden very much, Rena loved her family and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a great cook, and her perfect tortillas will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough to enjoy them. Family was always her favorite subject.
Viewing and visitation was held on Tuesday, April 9 at Dickey Mortuary in Fontana. She was laid to rest with her husband at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside on April 10. Dickey Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
