Maxine E. Garrett, 85, of Grants Pass died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Three Rivers Community Hospital.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home. A cryptside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens, with Wes Winn, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating.

Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

She was born Maxine E. Lawrence, Feb. 27, 1920, in Mackay, Idaho. In 1925, she moved with her family to Grants Pass, where she attended public schools. She moved to Crescent City, Calif., in 1964.

In 1966, in Mariposa, Calif., she married L.J. Garrett, who survives. They lived in Crescent City until her husband retired, and in 1989, they moved to Grants Pass.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two children, Raymond L. Gothard of Rexburg, Idaho, and Myrna Duke of Medford; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
