Aged 39 years
STRICKEN DOWN.
Death of Mrs. Alice Basler in This City Yesterday. Mrs. Alice Basler, wife of W. H. Basler of this city, was yesterday called by death from the home that her presence adorned as wife and mother, after an illness of about ten weeks, leaving a husband and a 10-year-old son, besides other relatives and a wide circle of friends to mourn her loss. Mrs. Basler was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fisher of this city. Though born in Ohio, she was reared and educated in Sacramento. A short time ago Mr. Basler thought of going to the Alaska gold fields. and Mrs. Basler not realizing that the remorseless Bright's disease had fastened upon her, urged him to try his fortune there, but at the first apparent symptoms of her illness he abandoned the idea, and thus was with her to the last, for which good fortune he is very thankful.
