Beatrice Illene Beets of Quapaw died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo. She was 60.

Beets was born April 8, 1946, in Picher to George Washington and Lucille (Stinnett) Darnell. She lived in the Picher area all of her life.

She worked as a caregiver for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services for 15 years and as a housekeeper for Miami Golf and Country Club for seven years. She was a member of Highway Tabernacle in Cardin. She was married to Harold Edward Beets. He preceded her in death on Nov. 1, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Richard VanHoose, of the home, Scott and Debra VanHoose of Picher and David and Carrie VanHoose of Baxter Springs, Kan.; three brothers, George Darnell of Wichita, Kan., and James Darnell and Jesse Norton Shoemaker, both of Hockerville; four
sisters, Clara Topper of Picher, Connie Wisdom and Darlene Evans, both of Hockerville, and Mildred Blackbear of Kenwood, and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher with th Rev. Ray Clonts officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, northwest of Baxter Springs.
Pallbearers will be Darren Johnson, Dave Johnson, Jesse Lancaster, Cleo Wisdom Jr., Chris Lacey and Harvey Jimmerson. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy VanHoose, Ben VanHoose, Travis VanHoose, William Rogers, Tiffany VanHoose and Cheyanne Blizzard.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home
