Charles Henry Magee was murdered by his cousin, Clare Magee, after Charles attacked Clare's brother, Dr. Edwin H. Magee, with a knife. Charles died from a .41 caliber gunshot wound to the heart while in handcuffs in the town square in Unionville, Missouri. He was the son of Samuel M. and Harriet (Carr) Magee, and the husband of: Grace (Perkins) Magee, Evelyn (Harper) Magee, Grace (Strawser) Lyon Magee Todd, and lastly, Clara (Eckles) Magee Kowalski. He was also the father of: Beulah (Magee) Livingston and Hazel (Magee) Grigsby.

CHARLES HENRY MAGEE

Charles Henry Magee, son of Samuel M. Magee and Harriet L. Magee was born near Martineztown (sic), Mo., on October 18, 1891, (sic) (1892) and departed this life at the age of 49 years, 10 months and 7 days on August 25, 1941.

When a child of about six years he moved with his parents to a farm near Howland, Mo. In the year of 1908 he was married to Grace Perkins, who preceded him in death. To this union were born two children, Hazel Grigsby of Washington, D.C., and Beulah Livingston of Rockford, Ill.

On July 5, 1934, he was married to Clara Eckles. No children were born to this union.

He leaves to mourn their loss his widow and two children, named above, and three grandchildren, Janice, David, and Richard Livingston; three sisters, Mary Smith, Bertha Lane and Stella Fowler and one brother, O.P. Magee, and a host of friends and relatives.

He was loved and respected by all of his neighbors and was always ready to help in the time of need.

Funeral services were held at the Husted funeral home Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., conducted by Rev. C.W. Caldwell after which the body was buried in Unionville cemetery.
