THOMPSON P. MAGEE DEAD

Thompson P. Magee, widely known in Putnam county as a former county school teacher and student at Unionville High School, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Des Moines, Ia., Feb. 28. Despondency over ill health was given as the cause.

Thompson Pollock Magee was born February 4, 1909, near Howland, Mo., the son of Mrs. Sam Arnaman of Unionville and the late O. P. Magee.

In his boyhood he attended various schools is Millerton, Ledyard and Baldwin, Ia., and was graduated from Burlington, Iowa High School after having spent a term in Unionville High School. Thereafter he attended the University of Missouri for a time, and in 1930 married Miss Lois Shoupe of Kansas City, who with their son, Thompson P. Magee, Jr., of Austin, Tex., survive him.

Prior to starting more than 20 years' service in the U. S. Railway Mail Service he taught the Petty school in Putnam county. In the course of his long service in governmental agency he was stationed in Kansas City, Mo, Phoenix, Ariz., Tampa, Fla., and Moberly, Mo. He was serving on the Moberly-Des Moines, Ia. route at the time of his death.

Mr. Magee was married three times. Besides his first wife and eldest son he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ruth Mize Magee of Moberly; a son, Terry Clare Magee; three brothers, James S., of Belle Fourche, So. Dak., Claude D. of Mount Pleasant, Ia., and Lieutenant Colonel Oscar J. of San Antonio, Tex., and a large number of other relatives, many of whom live in and around northern Missouri.

The funeral was held at the Husted Funeral Home at half past one o'clock Tuesday afternoon with an eulogy concerning the deceased delivered by Clare Magee. Internment followed in the Unionville cemetery.
