IN REMEMBRANCE: CLIFFORD SUNDERMAN
Clifford Sunderman, 70 a longtime resident of rural Griswold, passed away Sunday evening at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
The son of Walt and Lizzie Muller Sunderman, he was born March 5, 1914 in Cass County on the family farm and has lived there and operated the farm his entire life, except for a four-year period when he owned and operated a country store at Kemling, Iowa After retiring from farming, for the last ten years, he turned his life hobbies of growing plants and flowers and collecting and breeding many varieties of caged birds, into a full time occupation. He was married to Dorothy Schmedtjen on June 29, 1938 at the First Lutheran Church south of Wiota. He was a member of St John's United Church of Christ his entire life, serving periodically as president of the church board, and served on the board of the Griswold Coop Telephone Company for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and a son, Gene Sunderman, owner and operator of Valley Florist in West Des Moines, living in Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Gretta.
