Barry Lane Underwood, 62, of McMinnville died Wednesday, Sept. 1 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 29, 1947 in Warren County and was the owner and operator of Underwood True Value Hardware and Nursery Supply, a member of Centertown United Methodist Church where he served as a song Leader and founded the bus ministry. Mr. Underwood attained his B. A. degree from Middle Tennessee State University and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Delton (Flanders) Underwood.

Survivors include his wife Patty Wilson Underwood; daughters and sons in law, Andrea Keaton Martin and husband Paul E., and Nola Underwood Grepperud and husband Christian, all of McMinnville; grandchildren Hannah Grace Keaton Smith and Patrick Lane Smith; sister and brother in law Dana and Jim Milstead of McMinnville; brothers and sisters in law, Rev. Joel and Helen Underwood of Delaware, and Bill and Janie Underwood of Short Mountain.

Funeral service is 1 p. m. Saturday at Centertown United Methodist Church. Rev. Maurice Moore and Rev. Tim Ferguson will officiate. Interment will follow at (Church phone is 931-939-3701).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Centertown United Methodist Church Building Fund, Viola Valley Dog Rescue, or Relay for life. Online condolences may be made at www.mcminnvillefuneralhome.com.
