After she married William Rook, he was diagnosed with consumption (tuberculosis). They moved west for his health and he lived many more years. But, ironically, she did not after she too was diagnosed with the same disease. She either moved back to Connecticut to be with her family during her illness or died during a visit home with them. She was just 26.
