Funeral services for Ila Jackson Austin, of Carlsbad, New Mexico are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Denton Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad. There will also be a service at 2 p.m. Monday in the Canute United Methodist Church in Canute, Oklahoma with Rev. Austin W. Bizzell, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Bizzell is also Mrs. Austin's nephew.
Burial will be in Page Cemetery near Foss, Washita County, Oklahoma, on Monday following the services.
Mrs. Austin was born in Foss, Oklahoma June 15, 1901. She lived in Foss until she moved to Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico in 1983, where she resided for three years. She also lived in Brownfield, Terry County, Texas from 1921-1922.
Mrs. Austin was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canute, Washita County, Oklahoma, and a member of the Washita County Homemakers Club.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Elwin Austin of Panhandle, Texas; Glen Edward Austin of Borger, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Forrest Dickerson (Neta Fern) of Carlsbad, New Mexico; one brother, Edward Foster Reeder of Foss, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Tom McLin, (Willie Darcus "Aunt Bill") of Arlington, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
