Mark A. Pierce was born November 19, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Donald and LaVonne Myers Pierce. He entered the Marines in 1967 during the Vietnam War, and was stationed at Camp Lejeune and in Vietnam he was mostly on board. Mark and Jane (King) were married on February 23, 1974 in Waverly, Iowa.

He worked at John Deere for 15 years, and then worked at Cedar Metal Works until medically disabled retirement.

Mark loved fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Mark was a Union Member of the Local 838, and a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association.

Mark passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Iowa VA Medical Center in Iowa City at the age of 62.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Pierce; his brother, Rodney Pierce and a sister Sheryl Braatz.

He is survived by his mother LaVonne Meehan of Santee, California; wife, Jane; two sons, Aaron (Suzan) Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa and Kyle Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa; three grandchildren Elijah and Jace Heasley-Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa and Lily Ann Pierce of Waterloo, Iowa; two sisters, Donna (Chuck) Page of San Diego, California and Suzanne Pierce of Denver, Colorado.
