Jennie Louise Porter, 93, of Mechanicsburg passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, April 11, 2013, surrounded by family.
She was born January 21, 1920, in Darby Township, Ohio, the daughter of John and Rachel (Archer) Fout.
Jennie sold Avon for more than 30 years. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling until the age of 85. She enjoyed doing yard work and planting flowers. Jennie loved dancing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Marion Porter; her daughter, Nancy Snyder, North Lewisburg; grandchildren, Deborah (Gary) Johnson, James McCombs, Tami Walker, Jennifer (David) Nunn, Barbra Holycross, Amy Massie, Timothy Smith, Robin (Larry) Lawrence, Brenda Cantrell, Scott Cantrell and Tina Cantrell; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren; and numerous special friends.
She is preceded in death by parents; her first husband, James Snyder; daughter, Linda Cantrell; grandchildren, Nancy Jo Ferryman and Donald McCombs; brothers, Bob, George and Clifford; and sister Alice Johnson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-5 pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in the SKILLMAN, MCDONALD & VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Mechanicsburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, April 15, 2013, with visitation one hour prior to services in the funeral home with Pastor James Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
