John Harrell Milliken, 72, of Longwood, died Friday, April 12, 2013 in Universal Healthcare-Brunswick.

Born on September 15, 1940 in Brunswick Co., a son of the late James Isaac "Jim" and Josie Hickman Milliken. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Linda Milliken; brothers, Otis A. "Doodle" Milliken and James Cedric Milliken; and sister, Katrina McCullen.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Calabash V.F.W.

Surviving are his nieces, Judy Evans, and husband, Don, of Ash, and Donna Hawes, of Longwood; special care give and brother-in-law, Dan Russ, and wife, Julie, and their son, Matthew, of Longwood, and brother-in-law, Shorty Simmons, and wife, Sarah, and their daughter, Misty Renee Simmons, of McLaneville, NC; brothers-in-law, Daniel Simmons, and wife, Betty, of Summerfield, NC, Delano Simmons, and wife, Rosie, Summerfield, NC; and many more nieces and nephews, and special friend, Ruth Hill.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14th in Mintz Cemetery by the Rev. Chris Stanley.
