He was the son of Pierce Elbert and Emma Katherine (Norman) Gray and married Nannie Pearl Martin - 25 Apr 1928 - Lincoln Co., Tennessee. His obituary follows:

Charlie Bright Gray, 81 Mayberry Courts, Fayetteville, died Saturday in the Lincoln County Hospital following a long illness. He was 72 years old.

Graveside services were Monday afternoon at Riverview Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Virgil Harmon officiating. Gallant Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of Mrs. Emma Catherine Gray of Fayetteville, and the late Daniel Gray. He was a self-employed painter.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his widow, Mrs. Nannie Pearl Gray; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Payne; two sisters, Mrs. Alese Brown and Mrs. Ola Mae Harmon; three brothers, Thornton Gray, John Gray, and Lee Gray, all of Fayetteville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
