Mrs. Atkins was born October 9,1921, in Cameron. She lived in Loraine for many years and was a member of the Canaan Baptist Church there. She worked as a cook at Johnsons Hospital in Loraine and was a nurses aide at Loraine Nursing Home. She had lived in Loraine since the early 1950s, moving to Fort Worth five years ago.
She is survived by two sons, Joel Atkins of Loraine and Oscar Amos and wife, Sandra of Fort Worth; two daughters, Ruthie Griffin and Shirley Atkins, both of Fort Worth; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Price; two brothers; and five sisters.
Pallbearers were Billy McPeters, Hann Ollison, Tony Williams, Leonard Williams, Jossell Williams and Tommy Williams.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
