Mrs. Hazel Cryer de la Tour (Mene-Ma), 100 years of age, passed away on June 18, 2010 at St. Clare Manor in Baton Rouge where she resided for the past ten years. A native and longtime resident of Grant Parish in Central Louisiana, Mrs. de la Tour also formerly resided in Lafayette, Louisiana before moving to Baton Rouge to be closer to family members. Prior to her retirement and move to Lafayette, Mrs. de la Tour was employed in Pineville, Louisiana as an occupational therapist for Central Louisiana State Hospital, a position which she held for thirty years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar de la Tour; son-in-law, Howard Frazier; her mother, Ellen Cryer; and father, James Cryer; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Edie Frazier; one grandson, Scott Frazier, and his wife, Deane; one great granddaughter, Emily Frazier; one great grandson, Graham Frazier; and one sister, Joy Evans, all of Baton Rouge.
Mrs. de la Tour was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Dry Prong, Louisiana. Her sweet and caring spirit will be missed by all who knew her. Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, June 24, 2010 by the Reverend Lloyd Whitman, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dry Prong, followed by interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Grant Parish., under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
