Martha Albertna Hanke Witzke
was born October 27, 1876 in Pocahontas
County, Iowa. Her parents
were Ferdinand and Wilhelmina
Hanke. In infancy she was
received into the Kingdom of God
through the Sacrament of Holy
Baptism near the town of Varina.
On May 9, In the year, 1906, she
was united in holy wedlock to
August Witzke at Storm Lake, la.
At this time she became a member
of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of
Newell, Iowa. She was one of the
pioneer members of this church
and was a faithful member of that
church to the time of her death.
She was a diligent, hard working,
Christian wife and mother.
On Saturday morning, May 15,
quite suddenly it pleased the Lord
to remove her from this vale of
tears to Himself in Heaven.
Preceding her in death was a
daughter, Nellie. She is survived
by her husband, August Witzke,
one son, Wilbent Witzke and his
wife, Emma; one daughter, Catherine
Witzke, who lives at home;
one grandson, Robert Witzke; and
one brother, Herman Hanke.
Many other relatives and friends
also mourn her death.
