The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 04/12/2013

Abby White Alspach, 47, died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at her home in Holbrook. She was born Oct. 11, 1965, the eldest daughter of nine children of Ron and LaFawn White of St. Johns. Her father was attending BYU when she was born.

Abby is survived by her husband Jerry Lee Alspach; brothers and sisters: Lisa Dunman of Payson; Kurt White of Clovis, Calif.; Paula Guthrie of Kingman; LaNette Palmer of Fort Hood, Texas; Scott White (U.S. Navy) in Honolulu, Hawaii; Mira White of Phoenix; Brent White of Chandler and Carl White of Phoenix.

Abby attended the St. Johns schools from kindergarten through high school. She was a good student. Abby served a mission for the LDS church in Asuncion, Paraguay.

Over the years in schools and beyond, Abby developed many talents and skills; playing the piano and organ, a wide range of computer skills and organization skills, typing around 120 words per minute, becoming a teacher in a charter school and being chosen as the outstanding teacher of the charter school her second year of teaching. She also served as an executive secretary for a successful attorney in the Valley of Arizona for a number of years and most recently became a master quilter and quilting instructor.

While living in the ever-increasing population and traffic of the Valley, she developed allergies to that environment, becoming very sick and moved back to St. Johns to live with her parents until she was well enough to get a job back in the Valley again. During that time, she met Jerry Alspach via the Internet and they were married in Mesa Jan. 31, 2004. Once again, her health in the Valley deteriorated, so Jerry and Abby moved to St. Johns, where Abby found employment with the St. Johns schools for a few years. Jerry found employment in Holbrook, so they moved to Holbrook and have lived there the last six years.

A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Downtown Chapel, with visitation one hour prior.

Interment will follow services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
