Sam was born November 12, 1956 in Junction City, Kansas. He departed this world April 6th, 2013. Sam majored in music at Kansas and taught piano for many years. He began a nursing career in 1994 until his death. Sam was devoted to the care of his patients, his many, many friends and family, and his love of music.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, John McKinney and his mother, Amy Howard McKinney and is survived by his domestic partner of 38 years, David L. Box; brother, Tom McKinney (wife Laurita) of Albuquerque, New Mexico and their children, Melissa Sanchez and Jeremy McKinney; sister, Judy Christie (husband Larry) of Humansville, MO and their children, Travis and Heath Christie; Sam is also survived by David's family, Janice Drenna and her children, Lyndsi and Colton of Lindsay, OK as well as Alma Box of Lindsay, OK and Ronnie Box (wife Vicky) and their children, Jamie and Stephen and many great nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel South with interment at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
FAITH CHAPEL SOUTH, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is in charge of arrangements.
