Jonathan married Harriett Amanda Potter, 1873 in Montana before moving to Anaconda, MT where they lived until their 1899 move to Indianapolis, Indiana.

Jonathan married only once and was father of Hazel A Bartlett; Harley Harris Barlett, PhD and Clifford Loomis Bartlett, MD

Jonathan was a builder and achitect. Photos of 8 of his surviving buildings can be seen at https://dp.la/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=%22Jonathan+Hodgkin+Bartlett%22 (Look quickly because the website has lost its funding.)

Before 1871, as a single man, apparently Jonathan had moved to Montana for mining opportunities. Surprisingly his house from the 1880's still stands in Anaconda Montana across from the Hurst Library. (Photo uploaded.)

He ended up moving to Georgia after his children were grown, apparently for mining reasons. Descendant in Seattle has some of his mining papers.

In 1899 Jonathan and his children moved to Indianapolis where his children attended Shortridge High School. Indianapolis was the home of his wealthy brother-in-law, Merritt Ashmun Potter, who generously educated all the extended Potter family as well as his sister;s 3 children. Uncle Merritt had his own 3 children, but as an executive at the E.C. Atkins Saw Company he could also send Hazel, Harley, and Clifford through the best college education available in the United States.

Jonathan lived from 1900-1925 in Thomson, Georgia. See photos of 8 classic Georgia houses he designed on the Internet. He loved great danes and was noted for his quality architecture.

Jonathan's ancestors are of almost all English colonial ancestry from both his Bartlett and Hodgkin sides. (He descends from the immigrant Joseph Bartlett of Newton, Massachusetts)
