Bessie Kincaid

Bessie Lee Clay Kincaid, 96, of Britthaven Nursing Home, Morganton, died Saturday at the nursing home after several months of declining health.

Born in Burke County on Nov. 24, 1895, she was the daughter of the late Henry Jackson Clay and Mary Ida Whisnant Clay. She was a homemaker and a member of the North Morganton United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph W. Battle and William Lee Kincaid.

Surviving are: three sons, Charles Battle and William A. Kincaid of Morganton; three daughters, Mary B. Harbison and Rosa Greybeal, both of Morganton, and Betty Wally of Holly Hill, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Kirksey Funeral Home with the Revs. David Orders, Bob DiVenney and Patricia Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral hone form 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mary B. Harbison, 301 Tate St., Morganton.

Memorials may be made to North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Drive, Morganton, N.C. 28655.
