Velma Estella Orff Cook passed away on January 01, 2019 at the age of 106 years. She was born in 1912 in Pocahontas, Tennessee but lived most of her life in Corinth, Mississippi until moving to Florence, Alabama in 2000 to be near her immediate family. She was the daughter of John Robert and Ada Spence Orff, both deceased.

She was a member of Farmington Baptist Church in Corinth, Mississippi. She touched the lives of many Corinth families and friends through her caring for children of working parents.

Mrs. Cook will be taken to Cornith, Mississippi for a brief graveside service and burial at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 08, 2019 at Forrest Memorial Park located at 741 Veterans Memorial Highway 45 South.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Clay Cook; son, Charlie Clarence Cook; daughter, Barbara Jewel Cook Willbanks; brothers, Ulysses Eugene Orff(45274069) and Roy Lee Orff.(45274067)

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Bonnetha Stephenson Cook of Florence, Alabama; granddaughter, Brenda (Don) Forsythe of Lebanon, Tennessee and Susan (Steven) Bevis of Florence, Alabama; grandson, Charlie Clayton Willbanks of Holly Springs, Mississippi; five great-grandchildren, Jeffrey (Michelle) Bevis, Craig Marks, Jason Marks, Stephanie (James) Mallette, and Rebekah (Alan) Handley; and twelve great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include great-grandsons, Jeffrey Bevis, Craig Marks, Jason Marks, James Mallette, III, Alan Handley; great-great grandsons, Preston Smith, James Mallette IV, and Connor Marks.

Velma Cook lived her life based on a quote by Edwin Markham that she learned in elementary school which is as follows:

There’s a destiny that makes us brothers, None goes alone,

All that we send into the lives of others,
