His parents were Zalmon Alfons "Jack" Cherry and Viola Samantha Deering. The following obituary appeared in the Porterville, CA., recorder on Mar.23, 1971. TEXAS TINY COWBOY DIES - - HEMIT - - (UPI)-- Cowboy personality Guy Cherry, billed in the 1950's as the world's biggest cowboy when he weighed 640 pounds, died of a heart attack yesterday at Hemit Valley hospital in California. He was 46. Known as Texas Tiny, Cherry was the host of "Town Hall Party" a show broadcast on the Pacific Coast. After he left television, Cherry did radio and rodeo work. A native of Barnum, Texas, he entered the hospital Christmas day after suffering a stroke. He weighed 325 pounds at his death. (I have a copy of his birth record that says he was born in Tolar, Hood County, Texas, not Barnum)
