Mrs. Dewes was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of journalism and received her masters degree from the University of Evansvile.
She was a copy writer for local radio and television stations, and was a teacher and head of the guidance department at Memorial High School.
Mrs Dewes was a member of the Easter Seal Society since its beginning here in 1946. She was a member of the Evansville Philharmonic Boar, also the Women's Association in charge of radio and TV. She handled of publicity for the Heart Fund, polio drive, and the Neighborhood House.
She had also done television work for United Fund, and was a past member of the Public Health Nursing Association; a sustaining member of the Junior League and Humane Society, and was past president of the Evansville Alumni of Tri Delta Sorority.
Mrs. Dewes was also the first chairman of the Crippled Children's Telethon.
She was the daughter of the late Charles "Dick" Anderson, a former sports editor of The Evansville Press, and sister of the late Chick Anderson, a well known race track announcer.
Surviving are her husband, Henry C, a Whirlpool engineer, a daughter, Mrs Laurie Elizabeth Slagter of Northville, Mich; a son, Eric Charles of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 8:30 Monday morning at Ziemer Funeral Home -- First Avenue, continued at 9 at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial in St Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight, from 2 to 4 tomorrow afternoon and from 6 to 8 tomorrow night at the funeral home.
The family said friends, if they wish may make memorial contributions to St Jude Children's Hospital.
