Doris worked at a variety of jobs over the years. She was employed by International Shoe Company in Hartford, Illinois, Sears, Youngs Department Store and Famous-Barr at different times. She also was an agent for Woolf Realty and Walter Hale Realty.
She was a member of the Wanda Cemetery Board and the South Roxana Zoning Board. She was an active member of the Wanda United Methodist Church.
Doris was devoted to her husband, Forrest, who passed away on Valentine's Day 1999. She was a loving aunt and an animal lover who took wonderful care of her pets.
At the time of her death at Alton Memorial Hospital, Doris was 76 years, 2 months and 19 days old. She was survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as a close friend and companion, Gene Zeller.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until the beginning of funeral services at 1 p.m. on 15 Apr 2013 at the Wanda United Methodist Church. Marks Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the Wanda United Methodist Church or to the 5 A's Animal Shelter.
