Mr. Bobby J. Buckelew, age 78 of Winnfield, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Winn Parish Medical Center. Born, May 9, 1935 in Shreveport Louisiana. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a U. S. Army Veteran of Korea and Vietnam, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, a 50 year master mason and member of Plato Lodge in Plato Missouri.
Mr. Buckelew was son of the late Porter and Jewell Howard Buckelew. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Georgia Simmons Buckelew, son Ronald David Buckelew, three sisters Louise Ross, Jenny Clark, Jessie Buckelew.
Survivors include his wife Alice Faye Autrey Buckelew of Winnfield, three sons Randy Buckelew of Winnfield, Fred Lawrence of San Diego, California, and Steve Lawrence of Winnfield, two daughters Sharon French of Shreveport, Laura Weatherford of Natchitoches, and Rachel Lawrence of Winnfield, twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with President Justin Hardy officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home.
Friends may visit with the family in the Southern Funeral Home on Friday, April 12th from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and also on Saturday at the Church from 1:30 p.m. until time of services.
Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Lawrence, Brandon French, Randy Buckelew, Fred Lawrence, James French, and Lynn Lee.
