STORM LAKE PILOT TRIBUNE - Dec 29, 1938 - Funeral services for Miss Ellen Petit who died Monday morning at the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Matson, on Lake Avenue, were held Wednesday afternoon from the Hughes Funeral home. Dr. Edward L. Gibson officiated at the service. A quartet composed of Miss Ruth Gibson, Miss Mattie Sharp. L.O. Thomas, and Karl Nicholas sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Peace Sweet Peace." Bearers were Robert Jones, Errol Hech, Jay Doan, Norman Dokken, Fred Schroll, and James A. Drury. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Ellen Petit was born at Mexico, Oswego county, New York on Dec. 18, 1855. Later she moved with her parents to Dubuque and in 1882 the family settled on a farm three miles north of Alta. In 1892 Miss Petit moved to Storm Lake where she had since resided. For the past three years she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Matson.

Miss Petit was a member of the Lakeside Presbyterian church. At the time of her death she was 83 years, and 8 days old.

Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
