She died November 10, 1982 at the Buena Vista County Hospital.

She was a former teacher and her deceased husband was a postmaster for several years in Newell.
Survivors include her two sons, Dean of Newell and Scott of Norman, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Scott Muirhead of Palm Harbor, FL.
